Scholarship description

We want to know who inspires and motivates you to be all that you can be, and all you have to do is create and share a social media post to tell us about that person! We will select three winners for this scholarship, and each one will receive $500!

This scholarship caught my attention because I could immediately think of my long-time friend who truly inspires me every day to be better in the simplest ways. Things that are good for you even if you are feeling lazy like getting up to eat breakfast or cleaning your room. It feels really good to win this scholarship because I was just being honest about our friendship and it seems too good to be true. I am currently enrolled for the fall at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago for their Counseling Psychology program. This will lead me to my licensed professional counselor (LPC) license and give me the ability to practice in the mental health field as a Mental Health Counselor. I am excited for the future and this money is going right into paying off my student loans.

I’m super grateful for the opportunity to be selected as a winner for this scholarship, especially because I have a special connection to the theme “my inspiration.” I chose my mother to be my inspiration because she’s had a huge positive impact on my life. There were times I would be depressed for several days and she would reassure me that everything would be okay, and it really was in the end. She also held my hand through my battle with an eating disorder. For three years, slowly and gradually, she pushed me to finally have a healthy relationship with food. Because of her, now two years later, I’m finally happy and confident with who I am. Also, I found this scholarship on scholarshipowl, a website my sister told me about because she also applied to many scholarships through scholarshipowl in her highschool years.

My name is Charlie McDermott. I'm a third-year student at The Ohio State University and I am very thankful to be selected as one of the winners of the "My Inspiration Scholarship!" This scholarship really resonated with me because I continuously think about my role models and inspirations and how they evolve through time. Malaki Branham has been my biggest and most unique inspiration during this stage in my life, and I talk about him in my Facebook post. I will continue to use his influence in my daily life and activities. I plan to use this money to fund my education as a Sports Industry Major. My biggest career goal is to work for a collegiate program, monitoring student eligibility and income of student-athletes. Again, thank you for the nomination, and thank you for believing in me.
